South London Swimming Club Ladies’ Section

Balham & Tooting Mercury, 12/06/1931 Following the decision taken at the Annual Meeting in March 1931, the South London Swimming Club made the ladies' section a reality in the middle of June that year. The newly formed section would meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at the open-air bath and at mixed bathing-times. There was opposition, though, to the ladies attending indoor swimming lessons - though this was eventually agreed to.
