UK Cold Water Swimming Championships 2009 Poster

Since 2009, the UK Cold Water Swimming Championships have been held every other year at Tooting Bec Lido. The inaugural event took place in 2006, inspired by a trip to Finland the previous winter by a small group of intrepid South London Swimming Club members who took part in the ice swimming championships at Oulu. In 2008, at the request of the Finns, the SLSC hosted the World Winter Swimming Championships at the lido. It was a big success and, as a thank-you, the Finns presented the SLSC with the sauna which now stands to the right of the café. Poster designed by SLSC member Susan Rentoul.
