Balham & Tooting Mercury, 1930 To mark 25 years of the South London Swimming Club, the local paper published a series of articles in honour of key players. By 1930 Willie Laws had been a regular at the bathing-lake for over 20 years and had been swimming captain for 16 years. His advice for a long life was: 'Be an open-air swimmer, join our club, and have a contented mind'.
