George Aldhouse

George Aldhouse was a porter at Smithfield Market and became a regular at the lido in the 1950s. During the 1990s he was the South London Swimming Club's honorary handicapper, running the Sunday morning races. He took any opportunity to exercise as can be seen in this photo taken in mid-1990s.
