Mike Taylor’s Channel Swim

After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, 32-year old Mike Taylor set his sights on swimming the Channel. He trained at the lido and, along with 5 members of the South London Swimming Club, attempted a relay crossing in August 1997. The team reached the French coast in under 14 hours but was denied official recognition because Mike had needed a buoyancy aid for his legs.
