The Bathing Lake c.1906

How the bathing-lake looked in the 1900s. Changing accommodation on the eastern side was a rudimentary shelter without doors. The water was not filtered and soon became filthy. The rowing-boat was on loan from Battersea Park to help the lifeguard in any rescues. There was no cafe or fountain at the shallow end of the pool - they were not added until the 1930s as part of a major refurbishment of the site.
