A major refurbishment of the lido took place in the early 1930s in order to improve the facilities for women who were expected in greater numbers following the introduction of mixed bathing. The pump house and fountain (aerator) were both added at this time. Here, additional cubicles are being built on the western (Common) side of the pool. Notice that the pool itself is only half full of water!
