Brightside, No. 96, January 2006
In January 2006 Tooting Bec Lido hosted the UK’s first Cold Water Swimming Championships, organised by the South London Swimming Club. It marked the start of a year of celebrations of the lido’s centenary (and the SLSC’s). The event was inspired by a visit to Finland the previous year when a few members took part in the World Cold Water Swimming Championships there.
