Tooting Bathing Lake was opened by Alexander Glegg, the Mayor of Wandsworth, on Saturday 28 July 1906. Dignitaries from the London County Council (which owned the pool) were also present, as well as the Reverend Anderson, Rector of Tooting, who was the moving-force behind the building of the pool. They gave speeches from the diving-board and can be seen here in their top-hats as they make way for swimmers to dive in and enjoy the water.
